A Legacy of Volunteer Service
New Centerville Rural Volunteer Fire Company has been protecting and serving the community since 1949. We have approximately 70 active firepersons. NCRVFC covers approximately 110 square miles of rural Somerset County. The department is strictly Volunteers.
Besides Firefighting and Vehicle Accidents, we also do a variety of specialized training, including: Rescue, Farm Rescue, Confined Spaces, HAZMAT, Water Movement, Grain Bin Rescue, and others. Most of our members are trained in Hazardous Material Operations, and we have 2 members on the Somerset County HazMat Team. In the past 25 years the department has spent thousands of man hours in specialized training to better serve the community.
More Than a Fire Company
We are located in New Centerville, a small rural town nestled in the beautiful Laurel Mountains of Somerset County, surrounded by stunning wooded scenery and dairy farms. NCRVFC is most notably known for it’s Farmers & Threshermens Jubilee – a 5-day community event held annually in the late summer. Currently in its 74th year, it draws people from all over the northeastern united states.
The fire company also serves the community through a variety of outreach initiatives, including Open House events, blood drives, hosting the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Bear Check Station, and community events such as the Firecracker 300 and the Rodeo. Additionally, New Centerville Rural Volunteer Fire Company provides its facilities for use in other community events and fundraisers.
